I took the characters from my Sloane Monroe series and created a spinoff series called “Sloane Monroe Stories.” They are shorter works (most between 15 to 20k words). The theme of each book is one of the seven deadly sins, and each book involves Sloane and one other secondary character from the main series.

I do almost nothing to promote the novella series but because the books are priced at $1.99, $2.99, and $3.99 (a price I base on each book’s individual length), they seem to get enough visibility on their own.

What’s great about this is that I can write these shorter works quickly, and I still make a decent profit on them. This has been one of the most successful ideas I’ve tried to date when it comes to books I do almost nothing to promote.
